CULTURAL HERITAGE CENTRE collects information that describes the material expression of cultural heritage and captures the present and the past, stores, revises and organises it; performs historical and physical research (except for exploratory and detailed archaeological research) related to cultural heritage, and stores, manages and drafts related documents and information; functions as a special heritage protection library.

FACULTY OF HISTORY OF VILNIUS UNIVERSITY is active in several areas relating to cultural heritage. Research: anthropological, archaeological, historical, visual, heritage protection, sociological research of cultural heritage objects and places; heritage theory; heritage and memory; heritage history; feasibility studies and concepts for heritage restoration. Dissemination: joint projects with state authorities, heritage protection, memory (museums, archives) and other institutions, local communities to engage, revitalise and disseminate heritage. Studies: since 2003, the Faculty successfully delivers the Master's study program in Heritage Protection, focused on the training of specialists in the administration and presentation (interpretation) of cultural heritage and heritage researchers.

UAB „3D CREATIVE". Restoration through the use of 3D scanning and 3D printing is the most innovative and effective way to restore and preserve unique artwork, exhibits and other relics. 3D scanning will reproduce the geometry and colours of an object with high speed and accuracy. The 3D model will not only capture the scanned object but will also enable to have it printed by a 3D printer or produced otherwise at any time and in any quantities.

AIKAS ŽADO LABORATORY. A contemporary art facility constructed in the homestead of Žeimiai Manor, an individually collaborative work by artist Domas Noreika, also a community work. Some of its programmes are administered, coordinated and ideologically developed by the Association Aikas Žado. Main activities: practical experiments relating to the conservation of cultural heritage objects through the merger of contemporary art, science and cultural field discoveries, methods, techniques (use of conservation, prevention and restoration systems in the Žeimiai Manor estate: historical material collections, material testing, research of materials, special exhibitions and cognitive expeditions to present specific solutions and relevant methods).

ARTŪRAS ŠULIOKAS – a craftsman of furnaces, fireplaces and chimneys. He designs and builds new and restores old furnaces and fireplaces that are attributed to cultural heritage. He hosts training seminars on furnaces, chimneys and fireplaces.

ENERGY AND TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM is an institution designated for presenting the Lithuanian energy, technology and industry heritage as well as the history of Vilnius. The Museum is housed in a historical space – the premises of the first power plant of Vilnius. The Museum takes pride in the building of the power plant and in the authentic power plant equipment that has been recently in operation. Not only can you find the best preserved industrial heritage here, but also enjoy interactive scientific expositions.

„FIXUS MOBILIS" project implements a new system of preventive monitoring and maintenance for cultural heritage objects in Lithuania. The project that has been in operation for the second year has three mobile teams made up of nine employees. FIXUS Mobilis teams visit selected cultural heritage buildings in workshop vans, inspect them and take samples for required laboratory tests. Preventive maintenance specialists carry out minor maintenance works and then provide building managers with a building inspection report detailing the technical condition of the building and offering solutions for further maintenance. GARGŽDAI REGIONAL MUSEUM is situated in the territory of the Minija River Valley, in the historical place of the town – in the former manor estate of 19th century, which was famous as a local cultural centre until the third decade of the 20th century. The ensemble of the manor house with the old park, which has survived to this day, remembers the family of the Rönne Counts of Samogitia, but the building that houses the Gargždai Regional Museum today was built as a residential house. In 2005, a museum was opened here and is visited by over 10,000 visitors every year.

The Museum collects, preserves, researches, exhibits and promotes the spiritual values and material valuables of Gargždai town and Klaipėda district. The Museum has several permanent expositions: ethnographic exposition of the end 19th century – the middle of the 20th century, exhibition “The Interwar Gargždai 1918–1939”, and exposition “Images of Old Gargždai” which was renewed in 2015. The Museum has special areas with a reproduced frontier zone, a school class of the early 20th century, a historic post office where postwar-like postcards can be sent. The exhibition “Images of Old Gargždai” displays photographs, postcards from the Museum's collection of iconography and collections donated by private collectors. The exhibits present historical events before the Second World War when the town was completely destroyed. There are two information terminals in the exhibition.

„GATVĖS GYVOS". Since 2015, Gatvės Gyvos (Streets are Alive) have been inviting residents of Vilnius and city guests to sightseeing on non-traditional routes with an opportunity to get to know the city districts and other spaces outside the usual tourist trail. Since the beginning of our activity, we have introduced thousands of city residents to such places as Naujininkai, Markučiai, Lazdynai, Verkiai, Žvėrynas, held not only walking tours, but also tours by trains, trolleybuses and buses, organised several photo exhibitions, and published two information books “Vilniaus gatvės gyvos” (by Albertas Kazlauskas). From 2016, we offer thematic day camps, excursions and educations customised specifically for children. From 2018, not only the children of Vilnius, but also the children of Kaunas are welcome to join in cultural exploration. In 2020, we opened the door to the historical object we have acquired and preserved at our own expense – an authentic civil defence hideout for people to hide in the event of use of weapons of mass destruction (more: www.sleptuve.lt) The main goal of our institution is to provide everybody with an opportunity to explore and get to know their city together. We seek to make Gatvės Gyvos a platform for the dialogue of residents on the issues of history and culture, to trigger interest and a mindful approach to diverse heritage.

KAUNAS FORTRESS PARK. The main goal of the public establishment Kaunas Fortress Park is to make arrangements and take care of the preservation of the heritage of the Kaunas Fortress – forts, shelters and other fortifications, and adapt it to modern public needs by tapping into the scientific, tourist and cultural potential of this military heritage, as well as promote the defensive heritage in Lithuania and Europe. The Kaunas Fortress Park is a unique reserve of the history of World War I, where time has stopped; it invites you to visit authentic war relics and impressive historical monuments – long and tangled fort dungeons, the masonry destroyed by powerful artillery and entrenched landscapes of the city.

DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE UNDER THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE is the authority for the protection of Lithuanian immovable cultural heritage and movable cultural valuables, which takes care and manages cultural valuables, maintains an inventory of cultural heritage, presents cultural heritage to the public.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF LITHUANIA, founded in 1855, is one of the first museums in Lithuania. Today it has more than 1.5 million exhibit items and eleven branches, eight of which operate in Vilnius and three in the regions of Lithuania. It is the largest repository of Lithuanian cultural heritage that presents the development stages in the history of the country from the Stone Age to the present day in order to offer an insight into the most important phenomena and events in the Lithuanian history, which have predetermined the societal developments and formed the identity of modern Lithuania.

The National Museum of Lithuania presents an education "Archaeologist for One Day."

MUSEUM OF URBAN WOODEN ARCHITECTURE, which is being set out at in the historical suburb of Vilnius, Užupis, carries out research of the historical context of the wooden architecture in Vilnius, presents the wooden architectural heritage, which has survived in the city to this day, and outlines the future of modern wooden urban architecture with the focus on ecology and sustainability. The decision of Vilnius City Council to establish the museum was made on 17 October 2018. The Museum will open its door to visitors at Polocko street 52 late in 2021.

FOLK ARTIST RAMUNĖ PETKEVIČIENĖ - artisan of certified products of traditional heritage, promoter of the spinning craft. A member of Trakai Region Culture and Crafts Association, engaged in a variety of handicrafts: dyeing yarn with plants, knitting gloves, socks, wrist warmers, sewing toys, making straw gardens, weaving bands. The folk artist presents her handicrafts under the name “Nick-Nacks by Ramunė”.

ROKIŠKIS REGIONAL MUSEUM is located in the Rokiškis manor house, which was built 220 years ago by Count Ignotas Tyzenhauz, the head of the Lithuanian Foot Guards. The history of the Rokiškis Manor dates back to the end of 15th century. The manor was ruled by the families of the Grand Dukes Jagiellonians, Dukes Krošinskis, Counts Tyzenhauz and Pšezdzieckis. The Museum of Regional Studies of Rokiškis was founded in 1933 on the initiative of local intellectuals. The Museum has been operating, with breaks, in the manor house, since 1940. The Rokiškis Region Museum attracts tourists to Rokiškis not only with the unique architecture of the manor ensemble, but also with outstanding expositions of the history of Rokiškis region and the culture of manor houses, with god-carver Lionginas Šepka and the crèches. 

The Museum also boasts a unique, probably the only collection of high fashion clothes on display in Lithuanian museums. It consists of the late 19th century end the early 20th century women's and men's clothing and accessories of the Counts Tyzenhauz and Pšezdziecki.

An important activity of the Museum is its educational programs for which the Museum was awarded a prize by the Ministry of Culture in 2010. All educational programs take place in an authentic environment: lodge, barn, smithy or manor house. The Rokiškis Region Museum offers over 30 educational activities for its visitors.

NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE is an expert and adviser to the Seimas, the President of the Republic and the Government on the issues of the national cultural heritage protection policy, its implementation, assessment, and improvement. The mission of the Commission for Cultural Heritage is to participate in the formation of an effective and integral national policy and strategy in order to ensure the protection of the Lithuanian cultural heritage, its use and handing over to future generations, to preserve these valuables as authentic witnesses of the history and art of Lithuania and its regions, as well as the fundamental of the national identity. The Commission for Cultural Heritage deals with the issues of concern for itself or society and makes an effort to identify systematic problems in the heritage protection of Lithuania, as well as makes proposals for the improvement of heritage protection. The aim of the Commission for Cultural Heritage is effective protection of heritage geared towards current-day preservation of the cultural heritage from the past and for the future. 

The National Commission for Cultural Heritage presents the database U-Heritage "Learn about the heritage significant for Lithuania and located abroad!" and a mobile application (with a tour) “Old and New Vilnius” – "LEARN about the genius loci of the historical centre of Vilnius and DISCOVER the lost pages in the history of Vilnius!"

VILNIUS ETHNIC CULTURE CENTRE has been active in the area of traditional culture for more than 25 years. The main objective of the Centre – to underline the importance of ethic culture as a foundation for national culture, ensure the continuity and dissemination of traditions. The Centre implements a variety of projects, holds educational activities for children and adults, arranges professional development seminars for teachers and persons interested in ethnic culture all over from Lithuania, organises Lithuanian traditional and other festivals in the capital city, and is also engaged in publishing activities. One of the most significant events that the Centre is responsible for – the international folklore festival well known in the country, Skamba Skamba Kankliai, which brings together the folklore community of the entire Lithuania for almost a week in Vilnius. The residents of Vilnius and city guests know well the traditional festivals held by the Vilnius Ethnic Culture Centre: Shrovetide, Herb Market, Spring Equinox, and Autumn Equinox. Each year, these events attract thousands of audience. Educational activities that present traditions and crafts attract to the Vilnius Ethnic Culture Centre those who take a deeper interest in traditional culture or rediscover it. The Centre offers classes for making straw gardens, candle making, band making, ceramics, etc. Theoretical lectures present traditional festivals and folklore.

RESTORATION DEPARTMENT OF VILNIUS ACADEMY OF ARTS (Heritage Conservation Department until 2021) delivers Bachelor's and Master's study programmes in restoration. The Department provides training to future restorers of eight specialisations. Faculty of Vilnius: restorers of easel painting and polichromy, wall-painting, sculpture, textiles, architecture and interior. Faculty of Telšiai: restorers of artistic furniture and metal artworks. 

The Department of Restoration of Vilnius Academy of Arts hosts workshops for the production of artificial marble, Scagliola, casein paint and gilding. The workshop hosts who train future restorers hope that the introduction to artificial marble, Scagliola and gilding techniques during the workshop, as well as the first tries in casein paint production technology will provide a great opportunity to learn about forgotten old crafts and art techniques, as well as immerse you into the rippling space of shapes and colours. 

VILNIUS MUSEUM is a new space for residents and visitors to learn more about the country’s capital. The Museum opened its door to visitors in the spring of 2021 and presents unique and yet unknown, but still relevant, views of the city and the stories it tells. Dynamic and constantly changing, like Vilnius itself, the Museum plans to offer two or three exhibitions each year, based on authentic research of urban life. The Museum is dedicated exclusively to Vilnius and invites visitors to take a closer look and discover something unexpected in its familiar spaces. The Vilnius Museum hosts the exhibition “Unimplemented Projects in Vilnius from the 20th century”.

TOY MUSEUM is a private initiative that aims to present the heritage of Lithuanian toys and games to our public and guests of our country, engage families and everyone who likes to play in a fun cognitive process. We believe that it is important to enable the whole family to participate in culture together, and that involving children in the knowledge of cultural heritage is important for their education and for the future of society in general. The Toy Museum presents material about the oldest Lithuanian toys, game inventory, overviews the influence of the Stone Age and rural environment on games and play topics, as well as original 20th century toys, games, slot machines.
